NKISM

Alhamdulillah, i was selected to represent Selangor for islamic leadership camp in the national level, named as Kem Nadwah Kepemimpinan Islam. On Friday the 4th Sept, we, the delegates of Selangor were taken to Kem Plkn Desa Rimba Sarawak, Perak. It was a tiring long journey from Selangor without earphone. Yeah you can see how lonely i was in the bus. But thank god the other participants were really nice and friendly.

As we made our entrance, the perak students entertained us with kompang. Absolutely merrier! I was so excited and ridiculously nervous when i heard the kompang from the distance which signaled Selangor's arrival. We've been taken to the room and turned out we shared the same room with students from Perak, Kuala Lumpur, and Sarawak hehehe. Honestly when i was told we are going to kem plkn, nothing crossed my mind except bad facilities. Suprisingly, i was wrong! I could give 4 stars for the place. Before maghrib, we had a briefing. There are some points that i want to highlight here. First, we were encouraged to selawat everytime we walk in groups all the way to surau. Second, we can't go to sleep if there's no reciting surah Al Mulk together. MasyaAllah lookkkkk, ive never been to this kind of camp. Man, they were absolutely good rules to be followed. We have been also introduced the special clap for this camp. It sounds like this

Wow nadwah, subhanAllah!
Wow nadwah, Alhamdulillah!
Wow!

At night, there was tautan kasih sulaman ukhuwwah. We played some games with the spirit of ukhuwwah fillah! And were separated into groups. Alhamdulillah the first day was satisfying. We ended it with reciting surah Al Mulk.

2nd day- We started the day with qiyamullail. As usual, im the first one to wake up accompanied by my friend, Shahkeerah. The lights were still off, but we still decided to go to the bathroom and get ready. We were required to be at the surau punctually at 520 am. After subuh prayer, a student from perak (if im not mistaken) voluntarily gave a tazkirah. It was a good talk as he reminded us to keep our intention right being in this islamic leadership camp.  Alhamdulillah. This camp consists mainly of lectures after lectures. At 8.30 like that, the first muhadarah was presented by Ustaz Hj Ismail Shaari talking about Kepimpinan Rabbani.

After the muhadarah, we had breakfast and followed by tazkirah session. Okay now this is what i called mentally challenging session. We played musical box (well musical balang to be exact haha) and when the music stopped, we were directed to pick out a paper randomly from the balang. It was written on the paper a title that we should explain about it spontaneously. The stress and apprehension i felt before delivering the speech erm nah i mean tazkirah, can be devastating to my nerves. Haha then we continued the next halaqah, Kajian Kes which required us to solve a problem. After solat maghrib, we had the second muhadarah, explanation about Kemahiran Interpersonal.

3rd day- The highlight of the camp! It started off with Rehlah Qiyaddiyyah. Every group were arranged by the fascilitators to go to a chosen place like Pusat Kraf Tangan Negara, Galeri Sultan Azlan Shah, Syamile Agro Farm, Labu Sayong, Tekatan Benang, Malay College Kuala Kangsar, Pandai Besi and Muzium Arkeologi. My group and another 3 groups got the chance to go to Pusat Kraf Tangan Negara. Not only watch, but we also learnt how the intricate Malaysian crafts are made. Various techniques are demonstrated and we were encouraged to try our hand at creating our own souvenirs.

On that night, there was a forum conducted by selected students who won the best speaker of each group during the tazkirah spontan. We were . They made a talk which i dont seem to remember because i was too tired to even jot down that time. Some of their stories totally piqued my interest but i cant seem to recall them right now hahah sorry. But seriously though. No matter how load and clear the students up there speak, the loudest sound i could here that time is my stomach grumbling for food.

Last day- On the final morning, we had a hearty breakfast, which was followed by a feedback session. During this session, we were given the opportunity to voice our feelings and opinion regarding the camp. Many of the participants gave constructive feedback on what the camp had taught them. Deeply touching my soul. We learnt about the importance of teamwork, consideration, tolerance and understanding. Most importantly, we learnt that good leadership is responsible leadership. Summary of lessons learnt:

1. Kullu kum rain. Everyone of you is a leader
2. Khuwah. Every individual has his own strengths
3. Khalifah. We are custodians of earth
4. Amanah. With great power comes great responsibility
5. A good leader is a good follower
6. A good leader has integrity
